True or False?
Sun protection is only necessary during summer and shouldn't be a concern during winter.
FALSE!
Many people mistakenly believe that sun protection is only necessary during the summer. The fact is that good sun protection is necessary year-round. Although the intensity of the sun's rays may vary during different seasons, skin is exposed to harmful UV rays all year, during any sun exposure, regardless of the weather. Sun protection is necessary during all times of the year!
Sun protection should be utilized during all outdoor activities, including winter sports activities. Snow reflects UV rays increasing the chance of sunburn. Snow skiing or boarding requires the same sun protection as spending a day at the beach or lake in the summer. Since mountain air is thinner, harmful UV rays are more intense and pass through the atmosphere more easily, increasing your risk of sunburn and UV damage to your skin.

Fall Skin Care
Summer has fallen by the wayside - but your skin care routine shouldn't. With Fall officially in full swing and humidity levels dropping, we need to take special care of our skin's changing needs during this time.
Exfoliate!
First of all, Fall is a great time to exfoliate and renew your skin from the damage it endured over the Summer. If you haven't already incorporated an exfoliant into your skin care regimen, now's the perfect time to do so. Using a gentle scrub once or twice a week will help keep your skin clear. Consider jump-starting the exfoliation process by scheduling a microdermabrasion, chemical peel, or professional enzyme treatment with your esthetician.
Hydrate!
If your skin begins to feel dry, itchy and/or flaky the first thing you need to do is increase your water intake. You might consider switching to a more gentle cleanser during the fall and winter months as well.
Vitamins & Peptides!
Adding a Vitamin C serum and Peptides, if they're not already included in your daily regimen, will also help your skin regenerate and hydrate itself. Consider adding a hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid for that extra boost of moisture retention.
Healthy Nutrition!
Eating fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables will help your body function at its optimal level. Be sure to include apples, pears, oranges, pumkin, yams, squash, and avocado. Adding oils such as Omega's 3, 6, and 9, and cooking with extra virgin olive oil will also be beneficial to your skin.
Protect!
Don't forget your SPF! The damaging UVA/UVB rays from the sun wreak havoc on our skin all year round - even when it's cold and/or cloudy out. Protecting your skin from those damaging rays is vitally important to maintain healthy, beautiful skin. SPF ... don't leave home without it!
Remember - the skin is our body's largest organ. So take care of it this Fall from the inside out.

Vital Nutrients 4 Healthy Skin - Vitamin C
The skin is our body's largest organ, and without it we couldn't survive - it's our defensive barrier against the world. It helps cleanse our body of toxic waste, allows us to experience touch, heat, cold, pain, and pleasure. Its appearance also let's us know what's going on inside our bodies. If we have healthy looking, glowing skin, most likely your body is healthy on the inside too. The opposite is also true - problems showing up on your skin can indicate issues internally.
We eat healthy foods to fuel the insides of our bodies, and we also need to feed our skin by providing it with essential nutrients topically.
One of the most important nutrients we can put on our skin is Vitamin C. Vitamin C provides our skin with antioxidant properties as well as natural sun protection. It also helps our skin produce more collagen and elastin. Vitamin C helps prevent damage to our skin from the sun and other environmental toxins, and also repairs past skin damage. You can even use it to help wounds heal faster with less scaring.
An active, concentrated Vitamin C serum should be a regular component of your home skin care regimen for both women and men.
